These days, simply finding a job can be a challenge in itself, not to mention one that offers good pay, reasonable hours and the promise of low stress. However, the employment website CareerCast says that occupational therapy jobs are one of the least stressful in the nation, as reported by its list of the 10 least stressful jobs of 2011.

The demand for occupational therapists (OT) is on the rise, meaning individuals in that field do not have to worry about heavy competition for a single position. According to the website, occupational therapists work six to eight hour days and earn an average income of $70,000 a year, assuring they make a comfortable living without being constantly swamped with work. Plus, as more adults reach their golden years - especially the baby boomer generation - more OT's will be needed to care for the nation's aging population.

CareerCast reports that occupational therapists work with a variety of people and develop programs of activity for mentally, physically, developmentally and emotionally impaired individuals to help them become more self-sufficient.

Students who decide to pursue an occupational therapy career will likely have a bright future to look forward to. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that jobs in that field are expected to increase 26 percent by 2018.
